HOA and Community

It has been a while since I submitted an article and I think the timing is right. I have written funny articles, informative articles and some in between but I would like to write about what we have and what we can have at the Enclave. I would like nothing better than to live full time at the Enclave but Susan and I can't leave grandkids and our own children.
When I get the chance to visit I am amazed that we have so many people whom I consider friends and neighbors. My blood pressure drops the moment the front gates open and I know I am home. I know living there may not be the same but I have faith that we can do things to make the Enclave the best place to live in GSA.
We can start by seeing people as individuals and respecting their thoughts and ideas. Let's volunteer to join the Board of Directors. Their is no shame in running and losing, I did at the last owners meeting and don't have any ill feeling toward anyone who voted against me. Let's find ideas and projects to bring to the board for approval that will enhance our living environment. Let's talk with owners we don't know and learn more about people. I know that I will bring at least two projects to the Board soon that I hope they may see fit to approve.
Now to my article title "HOA and Community". Yes we have an HOA, that is a legal entity that owners are participants in and it has it purpose. Community is people that have an interest in people, I choose to believe that we ahould ALL strive to have the best community possible. If we do, that will take care of Boards, HOA's and any other things we need to be successful.
I challenge EVERYONE to make the concious decision to seek out those you don't think you like or don't know and try a different approach. We need everyone to be a part of this community we call the Enclave

Third Amendment Results

A Special Owners Meeting was called for August 19, 2023 at the Holiday Inn Express in Gulf Shores, AL to discuss and vote on the proposed Third Amendment to the Declaration of Condominium. The meeting room was full of interested owners. After several owners had voiced their opinions regarding the amendment, a vote was taken to determine the outcome of the amendment. Dorothy Spears from St. Johns Business Services conducted the voting process and after the tabulation of the votes announced the results. Ms. Spears announced that there were 43 votes in favor and 42 votes against the proposed amendment. Even though those in favor exceeded those against in the tally, the proposed amendment failed to be adopted because it takes at least a two-thirds favorable vote of total units (83) for an amendment to be adopted. Thanks to all that participated either in person or by proxy. Perhaps more participation would have led to a different outcome.
A focus group of several interested owners has been formed to offer owner input to the Board for other possible solutions. This focus group will present their input to the Board at the next Board meeting which will be in early November.
